Roof Inspection Flights That Don't Need a Ladder

Residential and commercial roof inspections, flown autonomously. Orbit the structure at the exact standoff distance you want — Muninn keeps the camera at the right pitch so every tile, flashing, and ridge is in focus.

Built for this mission

Close standoff without risk

Fly 5-8m above the ridge line without a pilot-in-command physically hovering over a 3-story roof. Autonomous waypoints = consistent distance = consistent GSD.

Zoom lens, pixel-level detail

On Mavic 3 Pro and Air 3S, per-waypoint zoom let you capture 1cm/px detail of suspect flashings without descending any lower.

Same mission, every quarter

Save the mission, re-run it after every storm. Compare photos side-by-side to spot hail dings or wind lift before the insurance call.

Altitude
Roof peak + 5-10m
Standoff
5-10m horizontal (close-up detail)
Gimbal
-30° to -45° (angled at the surface)
Capture
Hover & shoot, 2-3 sec hover, zoom 2-3×
Speed
1.5m/s (tight space + obstacle awareness)

How to fly it

  1. 1Choose Orbit for free-standing homes, Facade for multi-pitch commercial roofs.
  2. 2Drop POI on roof peak; set radius to 10-15m and altitude to roof+8m.
  3. 3Set gimbal -35°, zoom 2×, hover 2s per waypoint.
  4. 4Export KMZ, verify airspace is clear (red toast = restricted).
  5. 5Fly at 1.5 m/s with obstacle avoidance on.

Questions we hear

Is drone roof inspection accepted by insurance?

Most major U.S. insurers (State Farm, Allstate, Farmers) now accept drone roof imagery for claims. Check with the adjuster first — some require specific deliverables (photos with timestamps, address proof, GPS metadata).

What GSD do I need for hail damage?

1-2cm/px catches most hail impacts. Muninn's GSD readout updates live as you adjust altitude so you can hit the target before you fly.

Can I fly this commercially without a Part 107?

No. Any paid inspection work in the U.S. requires FAA Part 107. Muninn's plans are fine for commercial use — the license is on you.
