Storm Damage, Flown and Documented in Under an Hour

After a storm, the first 48 hours matter. Draw the property, fly a quick coverage grid, and you've got geotagged, timestamped aerials of the whole parcel — before the adjuster even arrives.

Built for this mission

Geotagged photos by default

DJI drones embed lat/lon/altitude/timestamp in every JPG. Muninn's mission plan gets you systematically over every corner of the property.

Auto-split for large parcels

Rural properties often exceed a single battery. Muninn splits automatically with battery-safe breakpoints so no gap is missed.

Re-fly for before/after

If a baseline mission exists (say, quarterly rural property docs), post-storm imagery can be compared apples-to-apples against the pre-storm flight.

Area (property boundary)
Altitude
60-100m AGL (property context + roof detail)
Overlap
65% front / 60% side (coverage over reconstruction-grade)
Gimbal
-60° to -90° (roof + ground mix)
Capture
Continuous time-interval 3-5s (speed matters)
Speed
5-8 m/s (cover ground fast, light may be fading)

How to fly it

  1. 1Draw polygon around property; load from saved parcel if available.
  2. 2Altitude 80m, overlap 65/60, continuous capture at 3s interval.
  3. 3Fly before light fades; run at 5-8 m/s.
  4. 4Offload photos same day — EXIF timestamps are the paper trail.
  5. 5Pair with ground-level stick photos for insurance submission.

Questions we hear

Do insurance companies accept drone photos?

Most major U.S. insurers now do. Check with the adjuster first — requirements vary (GPS metadata required, altitude caps, etc.).

Can I do this without a Part 107?

If you're paid for the work, no. If it's your own property and non-commercial, yes — standard recreational flying rules apply.

What about TFRs after disasters?

After hurricanes, wildfires, or declared emergencies, FAA often issues TFRs for drone operations. Always check NOTAMs + TFRs before flying. Muninn's airspace layer covers most but not all emergency TFRs.
